Acerca de Nuestro Censo de 2010 la Iniciativa

¡Todos Contamos! “We All Count” is a dynamic multimedia and grassroots civic engagement initiative to empower and encourage Latinos nationwide to participate in the 2010 Census.

The 2010 Census marks a crucial moment in U.S. history. As policymakers focus on recovering from the deepest recession since the Great Depression, an accurate census count is necessary to provide imperative federal resources for state and local programs that impact all residents.

In the 2000 Census, Latinos were undercounted at a rate of 2.85% compared to non-Latino whites who had an undercount rate of 0.67%.

In 2010, MALDEF’s initiative is to increase mail response rates among Latino households in the United States through a sustained and collaborative community education campaign. MALDEF’s target audience comprises the traditionally “hard to count” Latino communities of the United States, especially those who were not present in 2000 and are not familiar with the Census purpose or message and undocumented families who live behind the woodwork of the country’s population.
