MALDEF Law School Scholarship Program

Since MALDEF's founding, the civil rights organization has supported the next generation of civil rights advocates for the Latino community. MALDEF currently offers: a Scholarship Resource Guide for high school, college, and graduate students; a Law School Scholarship Program for law students; and a DREAM Act Student Activist Scholarship Program for college and graduate students.

MALDEF has developed a Scholarship Resource Guide to support high school, college, and graduate students in their attainment of a higher education. This is a free, informative resource guide for students, parents, and educators.

MALDEF LAW SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

MALDEF has always sought to support law students who seek to further MALDEF's mission of advancing the civil rights of the Latino community in the United States through the legal profession. In recent years, MALDEF has annually awarded 5-10 law school scholarships of $5,000 each to deserving law students from throughout the nation.

MALDEF's Law School Scholarship Program is open to all law students currently enrolled full time at an accredited United States law school. Applicants are evaluated for their academic and extracurricular achievements, for their background and financial need, and, most importantly, for their demonstrated commitment to advancing Latino civil rights in their careers. MALDEF's 2013-2014 Law School Scholarship Application is due Monday, January 27, 2014. Students will be notified of the results in the summer/fall of 2014.

MALDEF DREAM ACT STUDENT ACTIVIST SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

MALDEF now offers a scholarship to support the nation’s college and graduate student leaders who have been outstanding advocates for the DREAM Act and all immigrant rights. In 2012, MALDEF will offer scholarships of up to $5,000 each to deserving DREAM Act student activists.

All current college and graduate students are eligible to apply. Students seeking to enroll in college or university for the first time (or to re-enroll following a leave of absence) are also eligible to apply if they will be enrolled in a college or university before the end of 2012. All applications must be postmarked by Monday, July 2, 2012. Students will be notified of the results in the fall of 2012.
