MALDEF is a national non-profit organization whose
mission is to protect and promote the civil rights of the more than 45 million Latinos
living in the United States. Making sure that there are no obstacles preventing this
diverse community from realizing its dreams, MALDEF works to secure the rights of Latinos,
primarily in the areas of employment, education, immigrants' rights, political access and
public resource equity.
MALDEF's goals are:
to foster sound public policies, laws, and programs that safeguard the rights of
Latinos; and
to expand the opportunities for Latinos to participate fully in society and to make a
positive contribution toward its well-being.
