LOS ANGELES –  On August 19, 2021, Maria Jerez, represented by MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund) filed an employment discrimination lawsuit against Revature LLC. Jerez is a recipient of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). The suit alleged that Jerez was denied the opportunity to compete for an employment position at Revature because of her immigration status.

“We are pleased to resolve this case,” said Thomas A. Saenz, MALDEF president and general counsel. “All work-authorized DACA recipients have the right to work and to full consideration for employment under federal law.”

The suit has now been resolved on behalf of Jerez, through a confidential agreement, to the satisfaction of both parties.  The lawsuit has therefore been dismissed.
