MALDEF AND HEWLETT PACKARD ENTERPRISE REACH CONFIDENTIAL RESOLUTION OF EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION LAWSUIT

LOS ANGELES   – On October 30, 2019, Carlos Abanto Shinno, represented by MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund) filed an employment discrimination lawsuit against Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE).  The suit alleged that Abanto Shinno was denied the opportunity to compete for an employment position at HPE because he is a DACA recipient and because of his national-origin.

MALDEF AND ALLIED WEALTH PARTNERS REACH AGREEMENT TO DISMISS EMPLOYMENT LAWSUIT

On April 5, 2018, MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund) filed a lawsuit, on behalf of an individual job applicant work-authorized through DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), which alleged that the plaintiff was denied the opportunity to compete for an employment position at Allied Wealth because he is a DACA holder.  The action was filed as a potential class action on behalf of other work-authorized DACA recipients who may have been denied employment at Allied Wealth.

MALDEF AND BANK OF AMERICA REACH AGREEMENT TO DISMISS EMPLOYMENT LAWSUIT

LOS ANGELES – On May 3, 2018, MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund) filed a lawsuit, on behalf of an individual job applicant work-authorized through DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), which alleged that the plaintiff was denied the opportunity to compete for an employment position at Bank of America because he is a DACA holder. The action was filed as a potential class action on behalf of other work-authorized DACA recipients who may have been denied employment at Bank of America.
